ISA, City of Balanga, and Bataan Province host 2nd OSM Planning Workshop

Last January 14-16, 2015, ISA held its 2nd OSM Planning Workshop for its partner local government units at the City of Balanga, Bataan. ISA recognized the advances the LGUs have made through the PGS while identifying gaps in the LGUs’ Office of Strategy Management’s (OSM) procedures that need to be addressed and further developed through the workshop.

During the workshop, participants were given modules on improving their elements of the PGS. As communicators of their cities’ visions, the OSMs learned about effective use of communication mediums and zen presentation design. Tools for planning initiatives and guidelines for strategic prioritization were presented to aid in the implementation of their Strategy Maps and Scorecards. Participants underwent exercises on standardization of procedures for igniting their vision-aligned circles (VACs) and formulating criteria for rating and rewarding VAC revalidas. New learnings on Governance Outreach that tackled family associations and offspring organizations were also introduced.

The workshop was a venue for sharing horizontal learnings and best practices for the OSMs.

Aside from the modules, the workshop provided a venue for OSMs to share horizontal learnings and best practices – motivating each other to do better in their respective PGS journeys. In addition, Atty. Alex Lacson, Chief Executive Officer of ISA, gave an inspirational sharing about seeing the potential of the Philippines amidst criticisms and the responsibility of each Filipino in taking part in building the Dream Philippines.

The bustling town center was part of the city tour given by the workshop co-hosts – City of Balanga and Bataan Province.

The workshop was co-hosted by the City of Balanga and Bataan Province. Participants were given a tour of the City of Balanga – an up and coming University Town and an emerging hub for knowledge-based businesses in the Philippines. Among the places visited was Balanga Makerspace, an initiative of local engineering students to form a community of thinkers and creative people whose talent can be tapped to build startup businesses that can address local and international problems in the knowledge-based world of the 21st century.
