During his term as the 46th Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Iriberri guided the organization in the following command thrusts: a transformed and 21st century-ready force; a peaceful, secure, and strong environment; effective execution of national security policies; a modern and equipped AFP; and peaceful and credible elections in 2016. During his term, AFP was recognized as one of the Philippines’ first 12 Islands of Good Governance a recognition awarded by the Institute for Solidarity in Asia, Institute of Corporate Directors, and National Competitiveness Council.
Iriberri is commended for his pragmatic approach in achieving peace and development in all the organizations he has led, and has retired from active military service with several achievements under his belt.
On May 6, 2016, ISA honoured Iriberri as the only member of the 2016 Society of Fellows, a recognition bestowed on individuals who have championed governance reform in public sector institutions from influential positions in government, business, civil society, media, or academe. In particular, Iriberri was cited as a leader who empowered many others through his vision and love for country.
