On its way to achieving its breakthrough goals of producing 2 million subsistent families and 150,000 self-sufficient families under the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino (PPP) program, covering 4.2 million families through at least 2 social welfare programs, and building local social welfare and development offices in 40 provinces by 2020, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has been increasing its efforts to increase collaboration between workers in regional and field offices.
In November 2014, DSWD organized a Scorecard Summit to review regional and field achievements and discuss more ways to achieve its goals. One office, located in the Cagayan region, introduced a local innovation, the Family Scorecard, which was developed in order to guide PPP families toward their vision of a better future.
At the summit, regional directors were also taught new marketing and strategic communication skills to help them carry out their responsibilities in managing their offices and improving living standards for underprivileged families.
The Pantawid Pamilya Program invests in the health and education of poor households by providing financial assistance under the condition of compliance with a set of requirements. Families are considered subsistent if they have an unstable source of income, while families that are self-sufficient are able to provide for themselves. The PPP seeks to raise overall quality of life of families that are struggling to meet their day-to-day needs.
