The National Electrification Administration (NEA) has continued to sustain its governance initiatives after being Institutionalized in the Performance Governance System in 2010. In 2014, the agency was recognized as the Most Outstanding Office by the Association of Government Accountants of the Philippines for its accuracy in compliance to accounting rules set by the Commission on Audit. It was also recognized by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources as being an Eco-Friendly Office, and recommended for ISO 9001:2008 Certification after successfully passing external audits. NEA has attained 100% of its performance targets for 2014.
NEA began implementing its Quality Management System (QMS) in September 2014, reinforcing its commitment to service excellence and delivering extraordinary performance results. NEA was recently granted ISO 9001:2008 Certification on February 10, 2015 for its provision of financial, institutional, and technical assistance to electric cooperatives that distribute power.
The successful implementation of NEA’s QMS is part of its effort to deliver better quality services in order to achieve its breakthrough goals under the Islands of Good Governance initiative. NEA aims for total electrification on an area coverage basis by 2020, and seeks to share the governance advocacy with major stakeholders through the adoption of the Balanced Scorecard in its electric cooperatives.
