The third and final volume of the series takes us through two major reclamations of Philippine political freedom: our Declaration of Independence from the US in 1946; and the People Power Revolution in 1986—and inquires into whether we have already been able to achieve economic freedom.

This year, amidst a pandemic that has vastly altered our lives, we commemorate the 75th year of our independence from the United States. Since that fateful day, July 4, 1946, when we celebrated our independence in the ruins of the Second World War, we have been on a long journey to ensure that our hard-won political and economic freedoms can deliver development for the Philippines and for all Filipinos.

In his third and final volume of his Governance of the Philippines series, Dr. Jesus P. Estanislao builds on the work of two previous volumes, Governance in the Philippines: Spanish Colonial Rule, 1565-1898; and Governance of the Philippines: American Colonial Rule, 1898-1946. He presents a true account of the past 75 years from the lens of governance, culling lessons and ideas from the past presidential inaugural addresses and drawing from the wisdom and experiences of governance advocates from the fields of economics, security, business, academia, and civil society.

4. Wait for our confirmation. A member of our team will coordinate with you re: shipping fees and estimated day of delivery. All fees are calculated after payment is made and are shouldered by the customer.
